Handbell Ventures

From San Francisco and the Silicon Valley to Jakarta and Las Vegas, Bay Bells has brought the music of English handbells to an ever-widening audience. Performing on over 100 bells and chimes and representing over 200 years of musical experience, Bay Bells is one of the nation’s longest-running community handbell ensembles.

     The Bay Bells mission:

  • To educate the community in the art of handbell ringing through outreach to the widest possible audiences with performances and workshops
  • To provide an opportunity for advanced ringers to challenge their technical and musical skills
  • To explore and help create a wide variety of handbell music
  • To enable directors to refine knowledge of technique and develop more productive leadership skills
  • To provide a resource for other local handbell ensembles

Preorder our brand new CD - Light a Candle!

Light a Candle, Bay Bells first CD, explores the significance of candles—their use and meaning—through music.  We light candles, especially during the winter festivals observed around the world, in celebration, anticipation, or just to illuminate the longer evenings. We hope that you will find a bit of inspiration in this magical music.

Bay Bells was formed in 1986, and welcomed Mr. William Kyle as music director in 2001.

In June of 2004, Bay Bells acquired its own 5 octave set of Malmark handbells!

In June of 2008, Bay Bells, Low Ding Zone, and Bay Bells Lite performing ensembles changed the name of their 501(c)3 non-profit organization to Handbell Ventures. You can learn more about Handbell Ventures on the Handbell Ventures website.
